Special Requirements of Position:
Assist when and where needed for any sports activity assigned through the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Kind of Work / Essiential Functions (This is descriptive, not restrictive as to all tasks included in this position):
Settles disputes between groups or individual players when utilizing City of Kenner Recreational facilities. Monitors the use of recreational facilities to prevent individual or players from interfering with one another. Keeps an open line of communication and enforces rules regarding individuals utilizing City Of Kenner recreation facilities, i.e., dress code, conduct, use of recreation equipment and ejects unruly or unauthorized persons as necessary. Supervises all play and recreational activities were assigned. Patrols facilities when and where assigned. Reports damage and reports accordingly. Conducts activities and keeps facility in an orderly fashion. Light cleaning and trash pickup when necessary. Performs all job duties as assigned by the Recreation Director.
Work Environment/Hours Worked:
A Week-end worker (seasonal employee) is required to work when and where needed at the various recreation sites that he/she may be assigned. Employee shall not work more than 19 hrs. Per week. Days and hours to be assigned when and where needed by the Recreation Programs Division Director to meet the needs of the department.
Must be able to communicate in English both orally and in writing. Must be able to communicate successfully with players, coaches, officials of the various sports offered by the department, booster club representatives and the general public.
All sports equipment required for programs offered through the department, as well as scoreboards for gymnasiums and playgrounds. Must possess a Louisiana driverís license as may be required to drive to complete task assigned. A City of Kenner vehicle may be provided depending on availability.
Standing and walking is required the majority of each workday. Sitting, reaching, bending and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds required occasionally.
Must comprehend and interpret written and verbal instructions. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must have the ability to learn the various rules and regulations of all sports and policies of the City of Kenner.
Human Relations Involvement:
Must be able to work with various groups of all ages. Must be able to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement. Must be able to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement. Must conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.
High School Diploma or equivalency G.E.D. Knowledge of rules for the following sports: Football, volleyball, basketball, track, baseball & softball. Knowledge of sports equipment as needed.
